The Gallery began with a dream - a dream of representing more clearly the Church that Jesus started long ago, a dream of a Church committed to the message and life of Jesus Christ. Underlying this dream was the conviction that we paint a picture of God in how we loveGod, each other, and our neighbor, and the conviction that the Church should be fresh, exciting, and relevant to today's generation.
After months of planning and with the initial support of several sponsoring churches across the east coast, The Gallery started it's ministry in January of 2008. In these early days, the church was focused on loving its neighbors, serving the community, and learning the deep history of Baltimore. Over our first few years we have transitioned from gathering in living rooms, to party rooms in restaurants, to warehouses, community centers, and even a hotel. We are making every effort to meet the people of Baltimore where they are with the good news of Jesus Christ by establishing Gatherings and Growth Communities in multiple neighborhoods throughout our city.
One of the dreams we recognized early on is that God is passionate about all of his creation, and desires for His church to accurately represent that love and passion. As a church we understand that Baltimore is one place where the diversity of people provides an excellent opportunity for us to join into that dream. God has challenged us to try and create an environment at Gallery that celebrates unity while still recognizing the ethnic, economic, and generational diversity represented in our various neighborhoods and cultures. We are constantly seeking to celebrate our diversity because we believe it makes us better, and the better we are the more accurately we represent Him.
God has blessed us with the volunteers necessary to begin offering Spanish translation during our Gatherings, and we are making efforts to create a fully bilingual & blended Gathering at Patterson Park. We are truly grateful for the resources that make it possible to meet the needs of a growing portion of the Baltimore City population and look forward to the possibilities of adding even more languages, cultures, and traditions to our Gatherings as our church continues to grow.
